Sanctioning Doctors for Opioid Prescription Abuse

Each day, more stories continue to dominate headlines concerning the country's opioid abuse and its impact on families, health, and the economy. With the crisis reaching a critical mass, the highest levels of government are working to address so many health concerns with an executive order recently released from the White House. This epidemic is also resulting in a record number of doctors being disciplined by medical boards for over-prescribing to patients. 

 Recently, the state of New Jersey ramped up its enforcement efforts by sanctioning 31 physicians for allegedly over-prescribing painkillers.  This is a trend that seems to put a dent in the proliferation of addiction to pain killers, and the epidemic of pain killer narcotic over-prescription.
